Co-founded by Nolan Bushnell (Founder of Atari & Chuck E. Cheese's) and video game veteran Jason Crawford, Modal offers wireless, multiplayer VR entertainment systems for turn-key commercial use. Modal’s unique approach delivers a simple, affordable, reliable, portable, and scalable solution that commands unprecedented hourly throughput. Modal develops its own first-party experiences and also publishes third-party content that is fun, active, social, and accessible to everyone.

The company has installations at entertainment centers around the United States, including The Rio in Las Vegas (Caesars Entertainment) and Two Bit Circus in Los Angeles. Modal has been called “Goddamn amazing.” by TechCrunch and deemed “The best VR experience I’ve ever had.” by Steve Wozniak. The company was also honored with the “2018 Audience Award” at VR Fest last year.

Modal was recently chosen from thousands of applicants as one of just five U.S. companies for Batch 4 of the HTC Vive X accelerator program.

Nolan is an American engineer and entrepreneur who founded both Atari, Inc. and Chuck E. Cheese’s FEC chain. He's been inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame, the Consumer Electronics Association Hall of Fame, and was named one of Newsweek ' s "50 Men Who Changed America." Nolan has started more than twenty companies and is largely considered the founding father of the video game industry. Nolan lends his creativity, positivity, wisdom and guidance to the Modal team.



Jason Crawford
Co-Founder & Chief Immersionist

Jason has spent nearly 20 years at the intersection of video games and emerging technology, helping shape innovative entertainment products for clients such as Samsung, Hasbro, Nickelodeon, IAC, Acclaim Games, GSN, Atari, and Walt Disney Imagineering. Jason has founded several startups, including award-winning video game developer Tiny Castle Studios.
